in many ways, Aman was meant for Japan. (Although its first hotel was the resplendent Amanpuri, in Phuket, Thailand.) The company’s peaceful, minimalist and tastefully restrained aesthetic mirrors Japan’s design acumen: clean lines, symmetry, geometric shapes, soothing palettes.

Foodies will delight in Madrid’s impressive gastronomic scene. Lively, rustic-chic tapas bars and tabernas serve deceptively simple fare, best paired with a refreshing glass of local vino. Haute cuisine is served in the most unassuming of joints, while elegant Michelin Stars and gourmet markets abound. 

Madrid is also the perfect gateway to Spain, the ideal starting point before venturing off to Seville, Grenada, Barcelona, Menorca, Ibiza, Mallorca...

Japan has always been popular, and in the last couple years, the country has been incubating. A slate of new luxury hotels and developments has popped up in Tokyo, in particular. While foreigners were temporarily denied entry, the city kept getting better and better (as if Tokyo weren’t an incredible destination already).

Meander around the city’s numerous parks (Imperial Palace Park is particularly inviting), partake in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, sample the city’s slew of exceptional dining outlets — from holes-in-the-wall to Michelin-Starred destination restaurants — and peruse its eclectic selection of boutiques, department stores, shopping arcades and megastores.

Prague, the Czech Republic’s capital straddling the Vltava River, is fit for a fairytale. There are medieval castles and charming narrow streets (perfect for wandering) and beautiful bridges offering stunning views...the list goes on.
